Usually, when thieves plan to execute a robbery, the least they do is map out an exit strategy. Imagine having to just stand in the shop with the stolen items and nowhere to go! The thieves have no option but to return the stolen goods. It sounds embarrassing, doesn't it? Not only did you not get what you wanted, but now everyone in the store knows you're a threat.? ?
Exactly the same thing happened with a thief in the UK, who not-so-smartly tried to steal a smartphone and runaway but couldn't because the jammed door stopped him from exiting. What happened next must have been super humiliating for all the people in the store. Watch the viral video to know what happened.?
In a rather awkward robbery, a thief had to hand back the stolen phone to the shop's owner in Dewsbury, UK, after the shopkeeper's quick thinking fooled the daylight robbery attempt.?
The CCTV camera installed in the shop captured the moment when thief planned to runaway with 1,600 Pounds worth of smartphones.?
As per reports, at 4 p.m. on December 4, the man tried to steal from the Phone Market shop in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. But it didn't go as planned because he ended up returning the phone because he couldn't pass through the shop's door. Not only that, he also had to beg the shopkeeper to let him leave after he had simply locked the front door. Kudos to the shop owner.??
In the video, which is now making the rounds on several social media platforms, the thief is shown pretending to be a customer. The thief is wearing a hoodie, probably to hide his face from the CCTV cameras.
Naturally, the shopkeeper behind the counter started showing him a few phones and handed one to him to check personally, and the thief immediately ran back towards the glass door, but the shopkeeper jammed the door with a remote, preventing the thief from leaving. He returned to the owner awkwardly after this and had to hand over the food to him.
The shopkeeper's smarts saved him a lot of money from being robbed.?The shop owner, who is identified as?Afzal Adam, said that he installed the door locking mechanism in 2020 for 250 pounds, according to a?Metro News report.?
He said, "With people wearing masks and balaclavas, I was worried about not being able to identify anyone if they did steal from my store."?
Adding, "He would have gotten away with 1,600 pounds worth of merchandise, so the mechanism has paid for itself!?I had the owner of another local store come in and ask what mechanism we had because they were looking for the same thing."?
