Even if you have been living under a rock, there is no way you haven't heard of the polar vortex and how it's wreaking havoc in parts of the US. Most of the U.S. Midwest is experiencing nail-biting cold.
People can also be seen posting videos of them throwing boiling water into the air just to watch it disappear. A Twitter user who goes by the name?poopinyeti, posted a video showing how cold it is for people in Iowa living in -17 degree Celsius, with even a tiny bit of moisture on them.
In the video, you can see the girlĄ¯s hair standing upright, frozen and she looks like a cartoon character who has just been electrocuted.
The US has been frozen for quite some time now - first, it was parts of Niagara Falls that was frozen, then the Lake Michigan and then temperatures plunged as low as -40 degree Celsius, even lower than Antarctica.
"To protect your lungs from severely cold air, avoid taking deep breaths; minimise talking," warned the National Weather Service.
"If you live up in the Arctic Circle, you'd say this is pretty normal. When it's actually brought down to this level, that's when you know it's something serious," weather service meteorologist Brian Hurley told the MailOnline.
