A chef was handed 17 months in prison for releasing 20 cockroaches into a pub kitchen in Lincoln, England. The man, identified as Tom Williams, caused a disturbance in the kitchen of the Royal William IV bar in Brayford Pool, Lincolnshire's county town.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 11, following an argument about holiday pay.?
The 25-year-old was accused of making threats to cockroach bomb the bar's kitchen, according to evidence that was presented in Lincoln Crown Court.
He also cautioned the kitchen staff against coming into contact with non-native insects, saying they were poisonous.
On November 21, when he was supposed to go to trial, the chef failed to show up.?
"This is a case littered with poor choices by this defendant. There was a legitimate dispute. He made a poor decision to go about getting reconciliation to get, in his mind, get some compensation for his perceived loss. The poor final choice was not to attend his trial," said James.
The chef was given a prison sentence of seventeen months by the judge. In addition to this, he will be required to put in a total of 200 hours of unpaid community service.
