A FedEx Airlines-operated Boeing 767 cargo plane recently dove, nose-first, into the runway at Istanbul Airport when its front landing gear malfunctioned. The event occurred on May 8. In a now-viral video, the Boeing 767 can be seen landing on its rear landing gear and colliding with the runway using the front section of the fuselage. Sparks and smoke emanate from the aircraft upon impact and as it skids along the tarmac. Here's what went on.

The video was shared on X by @webflite who by their bio love to post 'scroll-stopping aviation-related content.' "Earlier today (May 8th), the nose landing gear of a FedEx Boeing 767-3S2F freighter, built in 2014, failed to extend as the aircraft approached landing," read the accompanying caption.?
There were no casualties, and a probe has now been launched, reported?Reuters. The FedEx Airlines Boeing 767 was reportedly flying from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and informed the control tower in Istanbul about the landing gear malfunctioning.
?¡°Flight traffic and operations remain unaffected on all other runways, including the auxiliary runways,¡± said the airport operator. Boeing 767 is reportedly 10 years old and based on the 767 passenger model of the 1980s.

The clip shows the plane bopping down to kiss the runway as soon as it hits the tarmac. Sparks fly and smoke emanates as the giant cargo plane skids along the runway. Perhaps the only good news is that there were no casualties, and the video earned a bit of internet fame.
