Partners experiment a lot during sex. But this couple's experiment might have gone too far.?
A man's penis may never be able to function after his?partner put expanding foam inside it with the aim of keeping it erect. This man had been struggling with impotence for a while and?had been inserting various objects into the opening of his penis during sex, with the aim of keeping erect.
The 45-year-old unidentified man had a bad reaction after?his partner tried to use the straw of a can of insulation spray to keep him hard. This foam is generally used for home insulation. However, after it was inserted inside the penis, it hardened and he was left with several masses inside of his penis and bladder.
Medical supervisors who treated the American man said he waited three weeks before seeking medical attention and only did so after finding it increasingly sore and difficult to urinate. By the time the guy arrived at the hospital, he was passing blood.?
Once he raised the alarm with medics, scans found various masses of the hardened foam with some measuring up to nearly 4ins (11cm) long.?Medical staff managed to extract the foam from inside the man's bladder during surgery, but the masses located in his penis proved more problematic.
Doctors tried to grab the foam and pull it out through the opening of the man's penis with specialised tools but this proved impossible.??
It then came to notice that the man suffered from urethral stricture disease ?which is a condition where the urethra, the tube carrying urine out of the penis, becomes scarred, causing it to narrow.??
This scarred tissue effectively anchored the foam in place, making the attempts to extract it through the penis impossible. The doctors were then forced to perform a perineal urethrostomy, where a new opening is made between the scrotum and the anus, to remove the remaining fragments.
This procedure diverts the urine stream away from the penis with the new hole behind the scrotum used to expel urine.
There was no problem during the surgery and the man is expected to undergo further surgery to repair his urethra but only after he passes a psychiatric assessment.
