The 28-year-old had her mugshot put on a website called 'Mugshawtys', which distributes women's mugshots with nearly 750,000 Instagram followers, and she went viral as a result.
The Alabama woman was unaware of this while in jail, but after she was freed, she discovered that she had garnered a big following on social media, with people tagging her mugshot.
"I didn't even know until I got out of jail and saw that all of my social media had gained followers and I was being tagged everywhere with my mugshot up," she said in an interview with the Daily Mail."Really it turned out for the best I suppose."
Her viral celebrity boosted support for her OnlyFans page, and she said that she made almost $24,000 (?19,000) in the week following being freed from jail thanks to all of her new fans.?
Abbie also stated that her mugshot becoming viral may have saved her life because it occurred at a tough time.She admitted: "I was going through a lot at the time. I had just experienced a miscarriage and was a complete wreck. To be honest, going to jail helped me not just monetarily, but also saved my life in several ways."?
"I am a heroin addict in recovery. I've been clean for six years, and following the miscarriage, I went down a dark path of sadness. I have BPD (borderline personality disorder) and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and I wasn't taking my medication, so I wasn't myself. So going viral helped me not only pay off my debts and live a more comfortable life, it also helped me get back to myself."?
