According to a report by the online food delivery platform Swiggy, ice cream has become a popular choice among residents throughout India.?
Interestingly, according to a report based on an analysis of ordering patterns observed between March 1 and April 15, 2024, a Mumbai resident placed 141 ice cream orders in the span of 45 days, which consisted of 310 items.?
The report also indicated that chocolate was the clear favorite ice cream flavor, with mango following closely behind. Among other preferred flavors among residents were almond, tender coconut, and vanilla.
The city with the highest number of orders, often referred to as the "maximum city," also demonstrated a strong preference for fruit-based ice creams, particularly mango and tender coconut flavors. Additionally, the online food delivery platform noted a significant 70 percent surge in orders for guilt-free and vegan ice creams in 2024 compared to the previous year.
According to the report, Swiggy received the highest number of ice cream orders between the 7 PM to midnight time slot, with over 6.9 lakh orders placed during this period.
The online food delivery platform also recorded 4.6 lakh orders during the afternoon slot from 11 am to 4 pm. Notably, the report highlighted that 80 thousand orders were placed between 7 am and 11 am in the morning, with Bengaluru leading this trend.
This isn't the initial occurrence of a Mumbai resident leading the food ordering charts. A year-end report published by Swiggy unveiled that a user in Mumbai had placed orders totaling a staggering Rs 42.3 lakh on the platform.
