The tech billionaire has time and again talked about it in his personal blog and interviews. Tennis plays a pivotal role in his fitness routine. In fact, he is often spotted attending prestigious tennis tournaments and matches.?
In his most recent Instagram update, the co-founder of Microsoft posted a photo of himself captured during a tennis match. He gave a witty caption to this photo as, ¡°Somehow, I didn¡¯t qualify for Wimbledon. But there¡¯s always next year!¡±?

Bill Gates has participated in the Match for Africa series initiated by Swiss player Roger Federer, a charitable event aimed at fundraising for the Roger Federer Foundation. This organization focuses on enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged children. Gates teamed up with Federer in the 2017, 2018, and 2020 editions of the Match for Africa series.
In 2018, Bill Gates teamed up with Roger Federer in a doubles match against broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie and Olympic medalist tennis player Jack Sock. Gates and Federer emerged victorious with a score of 6-3.
Gates had shared a photo from the match which featured him giving a high five to Federer.?
He captioned it as, ¡°Last night I got to do what every tennis fan dreams of: play on the same side of the court as the greatest tennis player of all time. Roger Federer and I teamed up for a mixed doubles match against Savannah Guthrie and Jack Sock at the Match For Africa in San Jose.¡±

In March 2024, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation partnered with the charitable arm of the Women¡¯s Tennis Association (WTA), founded by legendary player Billie Jean King. Together, they launched the Women Change the Game campaign, leveraging tennis philanthropy to enhance women¡¯s health and nutrition initiatives. The campaign received significant funding, totaling millions of dollars contributed by sponsors of the WTA Tour.
In his blog GatesNotes, he had written, "?I play a lot of tennis, but it is one thing to practice drills with your coach or go up against a friend. It is another to play in front of 16,000 people in a basketball arena. If you think too much or let your muscles tense up, you end up hitting bad shots, which makes you more tense, and suddenly you¡¯re stuck in a vicious cycle. No one wants to watch a match where two of the players keep double-faulting and returning serves into the net. So last week I put in a lot of practice time."
