In the world of billionaires, here¡¯s a bit of news that has been doing the rounds. Mark Zuckerberg is potentially acquiring ownership of Launchpad, a massive yacht presently docked in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Last week, the 118-meter-long vessel embarked on its inaugural journey from Gibraltar to St. Maarten. It's worth noting that this boat is said to be nine meters shorter than Jeff Bezos' superyacht, named Koru.
While Business Insider stated that the yacht's ownership transfer couldn't be verified because insiders in the yacht industry refused to disclose any information, it's worth noting that previous reports suggesting Mark Zuckerberg's ownership of the superyacht Ulysses turned out to be inaccurate.
The ship's builder Feadship spoke to the publication and said, "It is Feadship's standard policy to never divulge any information about our yachts with reference to ownership, costs, or delivery, etc. Whether it is an 18-meter Feadship from the 1960s or a 118-meter Feadship from the 21st century, we do not share private information.¡±
Earlier reports suggested that Mark Zuckerberg visited Feadship's shipyard in the Netherlands, leading to speculation from yachting bloggers such as eSysman SuperYachts and Autoevolution. These speculations indicated that Zuckerberg had potentially purchased the boat, which was initially built for a sanctioned Russian businessman, at a price of around $300 million.
Public marine tracking data also revealed that the yacht is registered under the flag of the Marshall Islands, which is a common practice for American buyers. This registration further suggests that Mark Zuckerberg may indeed be the owner of the vessel.
As per reports, Jeff Bezos has a $500 million(Rs 4100 crore) superyacht named Koru. The massive vessel embarked on its Mediterranean journey around Mallorca after departing from Rotterdam in the Netherlands for sea trials in February. It initially arrived in Mallorca last year.
