India's richest person Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries has given not just one but two reasons of joy to its investors. Reliance Industries, which is already India's most valuable company, has added another feather to its cap by becoming the first ever Indian company to hit Rs 20 lakh crore (or Rs 20 trillion) market cap on Tuesday.
Reliance Industries became the first Indian listed company to reach the market capitalisation (market cap) of Rs 20 lakh crore today, after the stock of Mukesh Ambani-led firm hit a new high of Rs 2,958 on NSE and Rs Rs 2957.8 on BSE.
RIL's market cap touched Rs 20.01 trillion in the intraday trading session today, However, it dropped a bit to close the day at 19.8 Rs lakh crore. Reliance Industries' share price have surged more than 12% this year till date, 23% in last one year, and 137% in last five years.
This Rs 20 lakh crore historic mark comes nearly five decades after Reliance Industries' stock made its stock market debut through its IPO in the year 1977.
