Many of us fantasize about owning a yacht, don't we? Imagining ourselves cruising in our own vessel, basking in the sun and sea - it conjures up an idyllic image.
Mix that with technology, and you have got yourself a futuristic vehicle! One such wonder is the world's first ever battery-powered flying boat - The Icon.?
Co-created by BMW and boat manufacturer Tyde, this groundbreaking craft marks a new chapter in electric mobility on the water. Debuting nearly a year ago at the Cannes Film Festival, it is being offered for sale at ?2,150,205 (Rs 22 crore).
This environmentally-friendly vessel represents a significant advancement in electric marine transportation. Historically, electric boats were confined to smaller sizes, slower speeds, and limited ranges. However, The Icon defies these constraints, offering luxury, performance, and environmental consciousness, thus heralding a new era of high-end electric boating.
Manufacturers assert that The Icon is a large electric boat capable of achieving speeds of up to 30 knots, setting a new standard in electric watercraft by relying only on batteries rather than fuel. Traditionally, electric boats have been smaller, slower, and had limited range, with faster boats typically powered by gas engines. However, The Icon breaks away from this norm by being large, fast, and electric-powered, distinguishing it in its class.
The Icon revolutionizes perceptions of large electric boats with its abundance of windows and LED lights, providing passengers with clear views of the water. Inside, luxurious glass doors lead to a lounge adorned with an intricate carpet design, adding to its appeal, as described by BMW.
This puts this luxury vessel in Abu Dhabi firmly in the high-end market.
