Shashi Tharoor¡¯s Net Worth: As the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 are inching closer, many politicians are declaring their finances in their nomination papers. Shashi Tharoor who is the sitting Congress MP from Thirvananthapuram is eyeing a fourth consecutive win.
Apart from assets, he also declared a total income of over Rs 4.32 crore in the financial year 2022-2023.
In the affidavit filed alongside his nomination papers, he cited immovable assets of over Rs 49 crore which includes deposits of varying amounts in 19 bank accounts and investments in various bonds, debentures, mutual funds, among others.
His immovable assets are valued at over Rs 6.75 crore, comprising inherited and self-acquired properties. These include a one-fourth share in a 2.51-acre agricultural land in Palakkad, now valued at Rs 1.56 lakh, as well as a self-acquired 10.47-acre land in Thiruvananthapuram, currently worth over Rs 6.20 crore. Additionally, his residence in the state capital, valued at around Rs 52 lakh, contributes to his total immovable asset portfolio.

His movable assets include 534 grams of gold worth Rs 32 lakh and Rs 36,000 as cash in hand, according to his affidavit.
The Congress MP owns two cars, a Maruti Ciaz and a Maruti XL6, the affidavit said.
In 2014, Tharoor had declared assets of over Rs 23 crore and in 2019, over Rs 35 crore.
Tharoor, who holds a PhD in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University (USA) and an Honorary Doctor of Letters in International Affairs from the University of Puget Sound (USA), is implicated in nine legal cases nationwide.
The majority of the FIRs against him pertain to allegations of inciting discord between various groups, with one case in Kerala involving charges of unlawful assembly and rioting. Additionally, Tharoor is entangled in four court proceedings, including two defamation cases¡ªone in Kerala and another in Delhi¡ªand one case in Kolkata alleging the promotion of enmity between different groups, as per the affidavit.
