They say rules are meant to be broken, right? However, the old adage doesn¡¯t specify the extent. Two local branch workers of a bank in the United States probably took this way too seriously and got away with it for almost a decade!
A bestselling author from the United States has recounted a remarkable true tale involving two employees at her neighborhood bank. Chelsea M Cameron shared pn X how these two women worked only half-days for ten years without detection. Their ability to escape scrutiny stemmed from being the sole workers at the branch, allowing them to leave early without being noticed by upper management.
To ensure their deception went unnoticed, one of the women leaving at the end of her half-day shift wouldn't clock out. Instead, her coworker would clock her out when it was time for her shift to end. This arrangement continued for a decade before management finally caught on, leading to both of them being terminated from their positions.

¡°Sometimes I think about the two women who were the only employees at one of our bank branches and for nearly TEN YEARS had been working half days and clocking each other out and no one noticed. They got fired eventually but honestly? That's on the bank,¡± Cameron revealed on the social media platform X.?

In the thread, she further explained that the two ladies had a rock solid system in place to ensure that they never get caught.?
¡°The lobby was only open until noon or so, and they were supposed to stay until 4. So one would stay to work on projects and the other would leave and clock them both out.¡±
Cameron herself was employed at one of the bank's other branches, where she had a minimum wage job answering phone calls, as she disclosed in previous tweets.
¡°I was helping out while one of them was on leave having surgery and I'd drive back to my regular branch after lunch and see the other's car parked in her driveway when she was supposed to be at the branch. Never said a word,¡± she said.
?
Interestingly, the management never visited the branch which is why their elaborate plan to avoid working full time went unnoticed for over 10 years.
¡°No one from upper management ever paid attention or even went there. Turns out the building needed a bunch of repairs after they left that had been ignored for years,¡± said Cameron.
Eventually, however, the two women were dismissed from their positions, she said.
