From completing her B.Tech from IIT (Varanasi), starting her professional innings with HUL, then obtaining sales and marketing skills at Britannia, co-founding a startup, later joining Flipkart in August 2013 and becoming the CEO of Myntra in January 2022, the journey of Nandita Sinha is not an ordinary one.
Nandita Sinha, the CEO of Flipkart-owned fashion platform Myntra praises her husband, saying that he has been her biggest cheerleader and the wind beneath her wings. ¡°My husband supported me at every stage like a true partner and my journey wouldn¡¯t have been possible without him.¡±?
The Myntra CEO then expresses her gratitude to three men, crediting and thanking them for ardently believing in her capabilities. ¡°Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Sriram Venkataraman and Amitesh Jha played a big part in my professional journey.¡±
For the unversed, Krishnamurthy and Venkataraman are the CEO and CFO of Flipkart Group, respectively, while Jha is the SVP (category and marketplace) at Flipkart. ¡°They honed my skills and mentored me,¡± she added, as per a Forbes India report.
Sinha delves deeply into her narrative, describing how a young girl, born and raised in a Lucknow family focused on education, had the seeds of courage planted in her heart. Her family included a long list of PhD holders, physicians, and engineers, and her mother taught physics. The unintended consequence of coming from a family like that is that she was always engrossed in thought-provoking discussions. Sinha was encouraged to express her opinions as a child, even if it meant gently disagreeing with her parents.?
Myntra CEO Sinha was always encouraged and allowed the freedom to be herself, even when she chose to study ceramic engineering at IIT BHU or voiced her reasons for taking a different stance or doing something unconventional. That, according to her, was the catalyst for her courage.

Her fearlessness came in handy when she started working at Unilever in 2004 as a trainee manager. It was an exciting and action-packed stint. In addition to honing his craft, Sinha was exploring who he was on a personal level, going from sales to marketing to spending time in rural areas. The MBA graduate from FMS Delhi spent months navigating the dilapidated tracks on a moped, a helmet with a strap around his chin, and dusty rural terrain.? ¡°I made it a mission to reach out to at least 50 kirana owners every day,¡± she says.
The demanding exercise equipped her for more difficult tasks in her ensuing corporate profiles. However, another thing that only a few would admit was really helpful. The young woman felt at ease in her position because her sales officers were seasoned; many of them had worked in the system for decades. She claims, "They put a lot of money into my education and training." Her two years at Britannia and her four years at HUL gave her the mental preparation she needed for challenging assignments of any kind. Opportunities continued to seek her out as she continued to hunt for them.
She once again demonstrated her fearlessness by co-founding the baby product e-commerce company MyBabyCart.?
"I decided to venture into the startup world after having a six-month-old to take care of," she says. Despite the gambit failing, Sinha was given the chance to work at Flipkart in August 2013. After serving as associate director for health and beauty verticals for just over eight and a half years, Sinha was given the chance to lead Myntra once more in January 2022. She has once again shown her mettle in more than two years. About 280 international brands were present on Myntra in 2021. Now, it has increased to about 420.?
Next came 2023, a year that would define Myntra's vertical and beauty play. As of right now, the platform's fastest-growing category is beauty. "The online beauty market has not grown at the same rate as Myntra Beauty," she asserts. Despite her rapid career advancement and success, her humility has not suffered. She states, "I would rather be known as a woman achiever than as a woman role model."
Venkatraman explained the unique qualities of Sinha. He believes that "she is a rare combination of intelligence, grit, and empathy." He continues, "Her ability to help others see the big picture and her commitment to solving real problems have turbo-charged various businesses." "She still has an adventurous spirit and faces challenges head-on."?
For her part, Myntra CEO Sinha thinks it's important to remain grounded. "Leave no fear, seize every chance you encounter, and fully utilize them," she concludes by offering some invaluable advice for young ladies and girls.
