Known for his reserved nature regarding accolades, Ratan Tata has recently agreed to accept the esteemed Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Humanitarian Award. Notably, Tata was honored with the KISS Humanitarian Award in 2021; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was unable to receive the award at that time.
He accepted the award following a personal request from Achyuta Samanta. Due to health reasons, Tata has been avoiding public appearances, so the award ceremony was held at his residence in Mumbai. Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran and three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej were among the attendees at the ceremony.
In his acceptance speech, Tata conveyed his gratitude towards KISS and its founder. "I am extremely happy to receive this honor. This is the most significant moment of my life," he remarked. Achyuta Samanta described Ratan Tata as a "revered name in India," adding that it is a "privilege" to honor him with this award.
During the occasion, approximately 40,000 students of KISS conveyed their heartfelt wishes to Ratan Tata, expressing hopes for his continued health, longevity, and well-being.
The KISS Humanitarian Award is the highest honor of KIIT and KISS, is dedicated to acknowledging individuals and organizations embodying the spirit of humanitarian work worldwide.
