No Range Anxiety: All German Petrol Stations To Soon Have Electric Car Charging Points
As mobility resumes in Germany post Covid-19 the authorities are making a focused push on having green alternatives on the roads. As mobility resumes in Germany post Covid-19 lockdown, the authorities are making a focused push on having green alternatives on the roads. A recent effort now aims to impel all the petrol stations in the country to have electric car charging points.
The directive will ensure that electric vehicles in Germany are not bereft of a charging station, irrespective of their location in the country. Easily available charging points will lower the congestion on the existing charging points and will in turn increase the appeal of EVs to buyers.
The transition will be a part of the country¡¯s 130 billion euro economic recovery plan out of which 5 billion euro is marked for the revival of the country's automobile sector. Other measures to ensure a promotion of electric vehicles in the country include subsidies to the buyers of EVs towards the cost of an all electric vehicle, a report by Reuters claims.
On the other hand, the government will deter the operation of heavily polluting personal vehicles with additional taxes.
With such perks on opting for zero-emission vehicles, the only deterrent for potential buyers to go for EVs was the range anxiety associated with such cars. The Reuters report mentions that electric cars made up ¡°only 1.8% of new passenger car registrations last year¡±
This increased to 3.3% of new vehicles registered in the month of May. If and when the new objective is passed, this number is anticipated to reach new heights in the country.
Other nations can be seen doing the same too. As the economic activities of nations resume, some have released stimulus packages for their automobile industries to revive operations following an income drought at the early stages of the pandemic.
France, for instance, released a Rs 66,000 crore stimulus package for its automobile industry, with a renewed approach towards green emission mobility.
Simply because there would be no more range anxiety with a charging station at every corner. Would such a move help India increase the adoption rate of electric cars? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
