Abu Dhabi Police Just Added This 400 Km/h Lykan HyperSport To Their Fleet Of Exotic Patrol Cars

There is a certain appeal to a police car that escapes any other regular unit sold to the masses. In case the police car is a cool $3.4 million hypercar, this appeal skyrockets through the roof. Abu Dhabi¡¯s police fleet¡¯s latest addition is one such vehicle. A Lykan HyperSport, one of only seven of its kind ever built.

High performance cars have always formed an integral part of the police forces of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The likes of Audi R8, Lamborghini Huracan, Nissan GT-R, Bentleys, BMWs and even a few Bugatti Veyrons already adorne the garage of the two police forces. That, in now way so, undermine the charm of the Lykan.

A recent video released by W Motors shows the Lykan, named after a mythological creature, in its full glory. Many will be able to recall the hypercar being featured in the Fast and Furious 7, with Vin Diesel jumping it off the Etihad Towers. It is safe to say that the colours of the Abu Dhabi police force suit the Lykan much more, giving it an even cooler look than in the movie.

The looks are not the only impressive aspect of the Lykan. If its on-sheet specs are to be believed, the HyperSport is able to touch a 100 kmph speed from zero within 2.8 seconds. This can further be upped to 200 kmph within 9.4 seconds. As for its top speed, the car is able to touch close to 400 kmph, clocking the max at 395 kmph.

All these top numbers are made possible by an RUF-based mid-rear engine, coupled to a flat-six 3.7-liter unit along with turbo chargers. The power output is measured at 740 horsepower and 960 Newton-meters of torque. Add all of this to a seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK gearbox, a jewel-encrusted key fob and diamond-lined headlights and you¡¯ve got yourself a complete looker costing a cool $3.4 million

The fleet of hypercars with the Dubai/ Abu Dhabi police forces are not just for show. With average speed limits on freeways being 140¨C160 kmph, fast cars are needed to catch any possible offenders on the roads. Citing this reason, police forces in UAE have always been a step ahead of their counterparts in pursuing new technologies. Not so long ago, Dubai police force started testing hoverbikes produced by Hoversurf as a part of a deal that the force had made with the company back in 2017. The hoverbikes will soon be inducted into the force's fleet.

With that aspect, it certainly would not be easy for anyone to escape the police forces in UAE, at least not with the Lykan HyperSport lurking in the corner.
