Samsung is preparing to release One UI 8, its next major software update, ahead of schedule. The next version, which is based on Android 16, may be available for Galaxy handsets as early as July 2025.
Compared to Samsung's custom of issuing significant updates in the final months of the year, this represents a significant shift. Samsung typically delivers One UI updates from October to November, following Google's release of the final Android version. However, Samsung is making progress with One UI 8.
In July 2025, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are anticipated to be released alongside the stable version of One UI 8. Compared to the One UI 7 update, which was released in April of this year, this would represent a significant advance.
