Remember the Tork T6X electric bike from the Pune-based EV startup Tork Motors back from 2016? Little has been known about the electric two-wheeler, which was supposedly the country¡¯s first electric bike. It lost that crown to the Revolt RV 400. And though the Tork T6X had been spotted testing, it now seems that it will hit showrooms soon.
A near-production ready version of the T6X was spotted making test runs recently. Note that this is not the first time that a Tork T6X test mule has been spotted on the road. This one, however, looks a lot more ¡°complete¡± than the previous one sighted and just might mark the end of the production cycle for the electric vehicle offering.
We can judge the near-production nature based on the almost complete bodywork seen on the electric bike in images. Other noticeable features include a new set of alloy wheels, bar-end weights as well as a revised switchgear that now also offers a toggle switch. We can expect the toggle switch to select the different options on the full-digital instrument cluster.
At the time of its unveiling, Tork T6X sported a 4.3-inch TFT unit and it can be assumed that the test mule in the picture is having it too. The unit, as confirmed by the company earlier, will display the bike¡¯s vital information and will allow the rider to switch between modes - Sports and Economy, if we were to guess from what the other electric two-wheelers in the market have on offer.
As for the powertrain, there doesn¡¯t seem to be any change in the one showcased with the debut bike in 2016. It is expected to come with the same 6kW electric motor that is able to deliver a peak torque of 27Nm and promises a top speed of 100 kmph. While there is no information on the range offered by the electric bike, it does claim to have an 80% battery charge within 2 hours of charging.
Even though the T6X is almost ready for retail, several aspects will still determine the final price of the electric bike. It was earlier expected to git select Indian cities at around a price of Rs 1,25,000. If the company manages to stick to this price tag, the T6X will directly compete with the likes of Revolt RV400 and some electric scooters that you can check out here.
