Made In India Atum 1.0 Electric Bike Doesn't Require License, Registration To Ride

A new homegrown electric vehicle firm has marked its entry into India¡¯s EV market with the launch of Atum 1.0 electric motorcycle. Priced at Rs 50,000, the electric bike comes Atumobile Pvt Ltd, a Hyderabad-based EV startup.
Approved by ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology), Atum 1.0 comes as a low-speed electric bike as its top speed is restricted to 25 kmph, thanks to its 250W electric motor. With this, Atum 1.0 sans the requirement of a registration or a driving licence.
Atum 1.0 is powered by a lightweight portable lithium-ion battery pack that is claimed to provide a range of 100 km on a single charge and a charging time of under 4 hours. The battery on the electric bike also carries a two-year warranty.
As per Atumobile, the 6 kg battery on the Atum 1.0 can be charged anywhere using a regular three-pin socket and consumes around 1 unit per charge. This means that the 100 km rangeof the bike would cost a user just around Rs 7-10.
The company claims the design of the Atum 1.0 to be its USP, as the electric motorcycle comes with a range of features to ensure a comfortable ride. These include 20¡±x 4¡± fat-bike tires, adjustable handles as well as a low seat height with high ground clearance.
In addition, Atum 1.0 comes with a complete digital display along with LED headlight, indicators and taillights. The design of the electric bike is completely proprietary, built in- house from scratch.
The company claims that the electric bikes are being made in India at its greenfield manufacturing facility in Telangana. The facility is claimed to have an annual production capacity of 15,000 units that can further be expanded to an additional capacity of 10,000 units.
