The new electric motorcycle by Aurus will be used to escort the Russian President Putin as part of his motorcade. Called Escort the electric motorcycle will be the first in the Aurus lineup to go fully electric. As the trend of electric vehicles grows around the world, EVs are finding their way to almost every use-case for vehicles. A recent and glaring example of this is the new electric motorcycle being inducted into Russian President Vladimir Putin's motorcade.
Called Escort, the electric motorcycle by Aurus will be used to escort the Russian President Putin as part of his motorcade. The EV was recently unveiled by the state-backed luxury carmaker for the purpose.
As for the maker itself, Aurus Motors has been known to make special armoured variants of its vehicles for President Putin. The offerings by the firm to date include an armoured limousine, van, and an SUV.
Going electric
Though the company has had its marquee on many vehicles until now, Escort motorcycle will be the first in the Aurus lineup to go fully electric. The company is expected to bring them to production only by 2022, in collaboration with the Russian State Scientific Research Center (FSUE NAMI) and the Kalashnikov Group.. There is, hence, not much information available about the motorcycles as of now.
There are, however, some things that can be deduced from the EVs latest patent images. One, for instance, is that the electric touring motorcycle will come with a big, adjustable windshield and hard case panniers.
Seen to have a bulky built, the electric motorcycle will sport an aluminium frame. The front end can be seen having a central shock absorber, enabling a high riding position with wide handlebars and a hollowed-out saddle for the rider. Disc brakes can be seen on both the ends.
Some reports mention the Escort to have a 112 kW electric motor that will be able to churn out a top speed of 240 kmph. Not much badging can be seen on the patent images except for one mentioning ¡°Escort¡±.
Once out, Aurus Escort will be the first of its kind electric vehicle to grace Putin's motorcade. With the unique concept, it might just be the first ever electric two-wheeler to be inducted for such use anywhere in the world. At the least, this is a stark reminder of the fact that the future of vehicles on Earth is electric.
