Hyundai Kona EV
Hyundai marked its EV debut in India with its Kona electric last year. Among other new-age features in Hyundai¡¯s electric car, the Kona EV offers a mammoth range of 452 km (ARAI approved) on a single charge.
Hyundai introduced the Kona electric as the first all electric SUV in the Indian market. At a starting price of Rs 23.7 lakh, the Kona electric comes with an electric motor promising 134 hp of max power and 395 Nm of torque. The car claims a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration in 9.7 seconds.
The 39.2 kWh battery backing the Kona electric is able to charge from 0 to 80% in just under an hour through DC charging.
MG ZS EV
A strong contender to the Hyundai Kona electric, the ZS EV was launched in India by MG Motor as a part of its promise to bring its electric vehicle offerings to the country. Since its debut late last year, the ZS EV is seen as a potent offering in its segment, costing less than the Kona electric with slightly subdued range.
The ZS EV offers a 340 km range on a single charge of its 44.5 kWh battery. Other performance specifications include a 140.7 hp of max power and 353 Nm of max torque. With this, the electric SUV from the house of MG promises an acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds, quicker than the Hyundai Kona electric. All this, at a starting price of Rs 19.88 lakh.
Tata Nexon EV
The homegrown car major is no stranger to electric vehicles and has since long been serving the Indian authorities in their attempt to cut down their carbon footprint. Nexon EV is the first electric compact SUV by the company that is open for sale in India at a price of Rs 13.99 lakh.
An electrified version of the renowned Tata Nexon, the Nexon EV comes with slight tweaks in design from the regular variant. Blue highlights can be seen all over the electric car to denote its electric nature. Its 30.2 kWh battery promises a range of 312 km per charge.
As for its performance, the Nexon EV is powered by a 127 hp electric motor that delivers 245 Nm of torque and an acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in just under 10 seconds.
Mahindra eVerito
Mahindra has been a frontrunner in the EV race in India. The company has had an EV offering way before the EV trend grew in the country. At present, the only electric car it has on offer is the eVerito, the electrified version of its compact sedan, at a starting price of Rs 7.48 lakh.
The 21.2 kWh battery on the eVerito promises a range of 180 km on a single charge, which is much closer to 150 km in real world scenario. The electric sedan is powered by a 3 Phase AC Induction Motor that delivers a 31 kW of max power and 91 Nm of torque.
Tata Tigor EV
Alongside the Mahindra eVerito, Tata has been serving the Indian government authorities with its Tigor EV, the electric version of its own compact sedan - Tata Tigor. Much like the eVerito in performance, the Tigor EV starts at Rs 9.54 lakh and promises a range of 213 km, which translates to roughly around 150 km in real-life conditions.
As for its performance, the Tigor EV is powered by a 72 V 3-Phase AC Induction Motor that promises 30 kW of peak power and 105 Nm of peak torque. Tata Motors says that the 21.5 kWh battery on the Tigor EV can be fast charged from 0 to 80% in under 2 hours.
