Tata Nexon EV Set To Debut On December 17; Here Is What To Expect
Tata Motors is gearing up to unveil its first-ever all-electric SUV in India this month. Previously slated for a December 16 launch Tata Motors has now pushed the unveil of the Nexon EV to December 17. The electric SUV will then be a part of media drives all before its official launch at the Auto Expo 2020.
Tata Motors is gearing up to unveil its first-ever all-electric SUV in India, this month. The homegrown automaker has been amped up for the unveil for a long time, having dropped multiple teaser images and videos of the electric car time and again. The build-up will finally take form on December 17, new reports confirm.
Previously slated for a December 16 launch, Tata Motors has now pushed the unveil of the Nexon EV to December 17, as reported by AutoCar. The electric SUV will then be a part of media drives, all before its official launch expected at the Auto Expo 2020.
As per sources, the electric iteration of the Tata Nexon will be based on the facelift model of the car. For those unaware, the facelift version features a new bumper and bonnet at the front, new fog lamp clusters and headlight units with DRLs as well as a slimmer grille in comparison to the earlier model.
Interestingly, the Nexon electric will also feature the company¡¯s Ziptron EV technology for the first time. The platform will use a 300V-plus permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and will support different driving modes for varied performances of the vehicle. Through this technology, it is expected that the Nexon EV will be able to deliver close to 300 km range on a single charge.
In addition to the EV prowess, Tata Motors is expected to comply with the upcoming pedestrian protection norms on the Nexon EV which are set to come into effect starting October next year. The expected price of the electric compact SUV will be around Rs 15 lakh upon its launch and it is anticipated that the electric car will hit the showrooms across the country within the first quarter of 2020.
