5 Statements By Celebrities That Prove Artistes Don't Quite Belong To Politics
※Chal Yaar Aaj Kuch fun kate hain,§ a friend of mine was left in dilemma soon after telling me this, because we both couldn*t figure out what to do.
So, we headed to Google because Google has all the answers, right?
It doesn*t take rocket science but a simple Google search to tell you &how to have fun*.
※Find a new hobby or passion,§ says the topmost result.
While we were scratching our heads, we realised how some celebrity-turned politicians have found their passion in politics recently. And look, they are actually having the most amount of fun. During the election time their words and deeds are making news and people are getting amused by it. Here are some instances when they used their wit and ended up making no sense at all.
1. Hema Malini's fieldwork
BJP MP Hema Malini is very confident on winning the elections again from her constituency Mathura in western Uttar Pradesh. She was seen working in the fields with the local farmer women, of course, as a part of her poll campaign.
She believes that she has done so much work that it's impossible for her to remember. When asked about her work in the constituency, she replied, ※I can*t recollect now. I don*t remember much.§
2. Sunny Deol's view on Indo-Pakistan relations
BCCL
Sunny Deol, it seems, knows nothing apart from movies and being a genuinely good person in real life. Political statements are surely not his cup of tea. Bharatiya Janata Party's Gurdaspur candidate Sunny Deol has been quite vocal about his opinions on Pakistan in reel life, but when it comes to real life, we sadly can*t say the same.
※I do not know much about issues like Balakot strikes or India's relations with Pakistan. I am here to serve people; if I win maybe I will have an opinion, right now I don't,§ Sunny Deol told NDTV in an interview.
3. No bed tea for Moon Moon Sen
BCCL
In a world full of pompous and dull politicians, be a Moon Moon Sen. For all the tea lovers, the lady has proved that bed tea is damn important in life and there is nothing left without it.
Hours after violence was reported from West Bengal*s Asanol constituency, amid voting, TMC candidate Moon Moon Sen said she had no clue, because she was given her bed tea a bit late on the day, and so, she woke up late.
※They gave me my bed tea very late, so I woke up very late. What can I say? I really don't know.§
"I got bed tea late so I don't know about violence in #Asansol "

"Be thankful to TMC for unleashing less violence. You were a baby when Communists unleashed even more"
"Violence is a national problem. Don't blame my master alone"

Another day, when she was giving a political speech, she stepped on the stage and, just like my every extempore session from school, she forgot what she had to say.
Moon Moon Sen has got most attention of her life today.

Watch a clip of her public speech where (a) She forgets what to speak (b) The public is not bothered to listen her (c) Her daughters not interested in what she speaks & (d) Her arrogance towards people for not listening her pic.twitter.com/jshfu4oisP
Perhaps, the tea has to be blamed here as well.
4. Nationalism comes first for Anupam Kher
BCCL
Anupam Kher, who &un-accidentally* played the role of Manmohan Singh in the 'Accidental Prime Minister,' was campaigning for his wife and BJP MP Kirron Kher, when he was asked about his views on the allegation that Kirron has been more active as actor than an MP, to which the man replied, ※Bharat mata ki jai.§
So, guys, when in trouble, just say Bharat Mata Ki Jai. That should be your new mantra in life.
Dear @akshaykumar! Have been reading about you explaining to certain people about your loyalty to our country. Stop it! Their real profession is to make people like you & me feel defensive for talking in favour of India. You are a doer. You don*t need to explain to anybody.???

5. When Hans Raj Hans was too young
TOI
Singer, Hans Raj Hans has also joined the list of celebs from the entertainment world who are contesting elections. The singer-turned-politician will contest for BJP from North-West Delhi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He appeared on a news channel recently, and when the anchor of a news channel told Hans Raj Hans about India-Pakistan war of 1971, Hans Raj Hans said that he doesn*t know about it because he was young at that time.
He said, ※achcha ji? # mujhe nahi pata# hui hogi# mujhe yaad nahi# mai uss waqt bohot chota tha§. I so wish I could tell that to my history teacher in school.
The anchor then asks him if he remembers who was the Prime Minister at that time, he again said, ※mujhe nahi pata.§

You will have to appreciate them all for their honesty, at least. If anyone is having fun during Lok Sabha elections 2019, then it this Bollywood clan.
#ITCounts is an Indiatimes initiative to move beyond the noise and the name-calling and focus on issues that really matter to our generation. We aim to be more about migration, pollution, LGBTQ rights, women's issues and healthcare than about Pakistan, political posturing and trolling.
