Vivek Agnihotris staggering film The Kashmir Files hit the silver screens ten days ago. The film showcases the plight of Kashmiri Pandits who were displaced from their homeland in 1990s. Anupam Khers niece Vrinda Kher who made her Bollywood debut with the film has opened up about the experience.
It has been over ten days since Vivek Agnihotri's staggering film, The Kashmir Files hit the silver screens. The film is still going strong with many shows going houseful, even on weekdays. It showcases the plight of Kashmiri Pandits, who were displaced from their homeland in 1990s after terror took over the valley. With an intense storyline and a gruesome climax, The Kashmir Files stays with you even after you've exited the theatre.
Anupam Kher's niece, Vrinda Kher, who made her Bollywood debut with the film, has opened up about the experience of shooting the grim climax scene in a conversation with Times Now.
The climax shows one of the film's central character, named Sharda Pandit, being stripped in public and murdered in cold blood. Talking about the same, Vrinda said, "The climax scene, in which Bitta tears off Sharda's clothes was particularly hard for all of us."
The character is played by actress Bhasha Sumbli, whose performance left the audience with a heavy heart. Vrinda further said that Bhasha Sumbli broke down while shooting for the climax scene and that the 'emotions that came out were real'.
"Bhasha broke down and it was very hard for her to be part of that scene. So, all the emotions that came out on screen were actually real. To imagine that someone actually went through this was very difficult," she said.
Coming to Vrinda, she plays the role of a young girl in the film who remains helpless as her home gets taken away from her. Apart from acting in the film, Vrinda was also a part of the directorial as well as production team.
Talking about how watching Anupam Kher in action was a learning experience for her, Vrinda said, "I was fortunate to be on the sets from the beginning till the end because I wasn't just acting in the film, I was also part of the direction team and the production team. I was lucky because I got to see Anupam ji in action, and that was such a learning for me. One thing he always says is that just believe who you are, be the character and just live in the moment, and don¡¯t over-rehearse. I tried to follow that."
The Kashmir Files released on March 11 and has been made tax-free in many states. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar and others in pivotal roles.
