Love Aaj Kal
Kartik Aaryan's biggest opener before this was 2020 film Love Aaj Kal that had collected over Rs 12 crore at the box office. The film had starred Sara Ali Khan as the female lead. Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, the film was one of the most-anticipated releases of the year owing to the popularity of its predecessor, the 2009 Love Aaj Kal starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.
Now that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has collected over Rs 14 crore, it will be interesting to see how the film fares at the box office further. The expectations are sky-high.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a sequel of the 2007 film starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in the lead.
Director Anees Bazmee had earlier said that even though comparisons from the 2007 film are inevitable, this is a different film with a different story.
The filmmaker had told Mid-Day, "I hope there won¡¯t be too much of a comparison because this is a different film. I was sure from the beginning that I didn¡¯t want to make a similar film. So, we have told a new story with new actors and new energy. We have retained the comic and horror elements, and the two songs (from the previous film). Besides that, you won¡¯t find any similarity. Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) was a psychological thriller; this is a horror comedy."
At the trailer launch of the film, the director was asked about his choice of casting. He was questioned on why Kartik Aryan was casted in the film instead of Akshay Kumar. Responding to this, the director had said, "Akshay is a great actor and a great friend. Vidya is a great actor and did very well (in Bhool Bhulaiyaa). But the script didn¡¯t give us the liberty to bring them on board." He added, "We didn¡¯t want to bring the two onboard without any purpose. This story did not permit us to bring them".
