Erin Doherty plays Briony Ariston, the professional psychologist assigned to Jamie's case, and Ashley Walters plays Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe.
The makers, oh sorry, masterminds
Philip Barantini, who used a similar continuous one-shot technique in the 2021 BAFTA and BIFA-nominated film Boiling Point, is the director of Adolescence, which was co-created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne .
Filmed in one continuous shot
Every moment, including weeks of rehearsals, was meticulously planned, according to director Philip Barantini. These included one week for the tech team working on the series and another week with the cast. Crazy right?
Q: Surely they didn¡¯t actually film each episode in one shot, right?!

They absolutely did! If you can¡¯t see the joins, it¡¯s because there aren¡¯t any. Each episode was genuinely filmed in real-time in one continuous shot. We promise!
The concept/storyline
When 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who attends his school, Adolescence recounts how the world of a family is completely upended.

It's a limited series
While you might think that there will be many episodes to watch, there are just four episodes, ranging in length from fifty minutes to an hour or a little bit longer. Even though these fifty minutes may seem excessive at this point, you wouldn't want them to end. Yes that's how gripping it is.
