Ajith Kumar's 'Thunivu' Sets OTT On Fire, Fans Call It 'One Of The Best Thala Films'

H. Vinoth wrote and directed the action heist movie Thunivu, which was produced by Boney Kapoor in the year 2023. Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, John Kokken, Ajay, and Veera play supporting parts alongside Ajith Kumar in the lead role.

The movie was first announced in February 2022 with the working title AK61; the official title was revealed in September.

In Hyderabad and Bangkok, principal photography began in April and ended in October of that year. Late in October, post-production work started, and it was finished in December.

On January 11, 2023, the week of Pongal, Thunivu was released in theatres to mixed reviews from critics.

Masses were waiting for the film to release on OTT, and now that it has, people are going crazy over it! Many saw the film and took to Twitter to review it.

Plot:

With the assistance of ACP Ramachandran, the notorious mobster Radha plans a theft at "Your Bank," one of the largest privately held banks in Chennai. On May 21, when the Governor has a party at his home, they want to rob 500 crore. On the day of the robbery, Radha and his men seize the bank only to discover that it has already been taken over by a mystery figure named "Michael Jackson" and his collaborator, Kanmani. When the commandos get to the bank, Jackson manages to take care of them. Later, in exchange for a piece of the looted 5000 crores, he strikes a deal with Radha, which he and his men reluctantly accept.

With such a fervent fan base, Ajith Kumar has been able to keep a firm hold on the global box office, and his film Thunivu is the second of his to cross the 200 crore milestone. In fact, it is on track to surpass Viswasam's lifetime box office earnings to become his highest-earning movie (205 crores gross).
