Rasika plays Ishrat, a mother to a seven-year-old whose husband goes missing. She plays a distraught woman who is finding it difficult to come to terms with her husband¡¯s disappearance. She is shown grieving and is dejected with life. Soon after, the news of her husband¡¯s death brings closure to Ishrat and her son. This movie centers around healing and overcoming tragedies and Rasika played her part with utmost sincerity and conviction. She won the best actor award at RIFF for Hamid.

All eyes were on Nawazuddin Siddiqui who played the titular role in Nandita Das' Manto. However, Rasika played the role of Safiyah Manto, the strong and resilient wife of writer Saadat Hasan Manto. While Manto was trying to make an impact with his writing, his wife was the solid pillar of strength and support to him. Rasika played the part so well that she earned praises from the likes of Imtiaz Ali and Shabana Azmi. To make a mark in a film that only revolves around the male protagonist is no easy feat for sure.

While this series based on Vikram Seth¡¯s novel mostly revolved around Lata, it was Savita¡¯s marriage that served as the base of the series. Played by Rasika, Savita took the traditional path of arranged marriage that her younger sister Lata is fighting against and in a way helped in changing the mindset of her younger sister. It was Savita¡¯s deep and meaningful bond with her husband Pran that made Lata question her own ideas about love and desire. Dugal played a sweet and simple girl who is shown to accept her fate and tries to set an example for her family by being the ideal wife.
