The movie is a successor of ¡®Karthikeya¡¯, in which the plot focused on a lad named Karthikeya who enjoys solving mysteries and travels to Subramanyapuram to look into a case where the locals were alarmed by a poisonous snake in a temple.

The protagonist Karthikeya's search for the truth is the subject of the second mystic thriller. Lord Krishna presents an anklet that contains the solution to all of the world's problems just before Kalyug commences. Years later, while the hunt for the anklet continues, a doctor finds himself right in the middle of things. He discovers the strength of the traditional Indian religion and the Tatva of Lord Shri Krishna as a result.
Is Karthikeya 2 a good sequel that advances the plot?
The filmmaker, Chandoo Mondeti made his successful debut with Karthikeya. In the first instalment, he made sure to drop hints in the film for continuation which was made possible by the eponymous character, portrayed by Nikhil Siddhartha. Just like in first film, in Karthikeya 2, Chandoo has left the door open for a future instalment that will take us on an expedition alongside the intrepid doctor in search of truth.
The opening scene of this film is a tale from Mahabharat or the time of Lord Shri Krishna. It is commendable how the filmmaker used a narrative to link the Dwapar Yug with the present. The animation in this film explains the portion of the film representing ancient periods.

Karthikeya 2 definitely has a tone shift and the budget is unquestionably appropriate as these elements have allowed for a richer narrative and more focused storytelling than the previous instalment. The oddly extended run time with several scenes dragging unduly, doesn't change the fact that the movie is still largely fascinating.
Karthikeya 2 is still a respectable successor to Karthikeya, although you might have to wait a little while for Karthikeya 3 to reunite you with the intrepid adventurer.
For the unversed, Karthikeya 2 has nothing to do with the first instalment. As the main character from the first movie takes on a new trip in this independent movie, therefore, one need not be familiar with Karthikeya's first movie in order to understand the sequel.

Why Karthikeya 2 has managed to charm the audience?
It's a movie for the people, and while its initial reception wasn't spectacular, within two days of its release, the buzz around it grew. Whereas movies like Laal Singh Chaddha were occupied with attempting to mimic Hollywood productions, Karthikeya 2 was able to incorporate quality VFX for under 15 crores. Don't get us wrong; they haven't attempted to duplicate Hollywood films; rather, they have provided a powerful competition. The movie has undoubtedly given the audience the impression of Hollywood fanaticism.

The enthusiasm around this movie is also due to the fact that good adventure movies are uncommon in Indian cinema, and the director, actors, and crew succeeded in realising their image of what a "Good Adventure Film" should be.

More than a mystery-thriller, Karthikeya 2 belongs in the adventure film genre. This film, which depicts the highlands of Govardhan, the lanes of Dwarka, the desert, and the rivers reflects India's unity, there is also a message that helps the audience separate superstition from spirituality. However, this is done without demeaning Hinduism. As the protagonist explores the mystery, the primary takeaway from the movie is that the ancient people were highly intelligent and scientifically advanced as they accomplished some very amazing things.
It is great how the director used a story to link the Dwapar Yug and the present. Animation has been used to explain the section of the movie that shows ancient times. This has also been the Karthikeya series' defining aesthetic. We would advise the teens to watch this movie because they will not only be entertained but also learn more about our history.
The legends from the Dwapar Yug about the city of Dwarka, which was drowned underwater, are fascinating. The modern world is interconnected, and the filmmaker was able to capture it in the film as it ran through it. The plot has been kept as straightforward as possible by the writers.
