If your streaming list has been looking a bit too PG lately, allow MobLand to roll in like a blacked-out Bentley full of bullets, brogues, and betrayals. Created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, The Day of the Jackal) and dripping in Guy Ritchie＊s signature London-gangster gloss, this is not your average mob drama. It is louder, nastier, and dressed in Savile Row suits.

Leading the madness is Tom Hardy as Harry de Souza 〞 a fixer with a face that says ※do not mess with me§ and a voice that probably haunts dreams. He works for the Harrigans, a ruthless Irish mob family run by Conrad Harrigan (played by Pierce Brosnan, who has clearly ditched the martini and gone full psycho-daddy). Conrad is the kind of boss who might kiss you tenderly on the hand＃ right before turning your chest into Swiss cheese in front of your mates.

But do not get it twisted 〞 the real boss is Maeve Harrigan. Played by Dame Helen Mirren like a velvet-wrapped razor blade, she delivers iconic death threats with the ease of ordering afternoon tea. In one savage moment, she tells a doomed lieutenant that he is way better at brown-nosing than betrayal. Cold.

The show reunites a few old gangsters, too. Tom Hardy links back up with Guy Ritchie for the first time since RocknRolla, and they are clearly cooking with gas. According to Hardy, returning to work with Ritchie felt right now that he is older and more seasoned. He called the role an "exercise in containment" 〞 but spoiler alert: nothing in MobLand feels particularly contained.

MobLand cast: Also in the cast? Paddy Considine, Geoff Bell, Joanne Froggatt, Mandeep Dhillon, and Lara Pulver. Basically, it is like the British gangster genre threw a wild house party and invited all the coolest people.
