When and where to watch Newtopia?
Newtopia will start streaming on Coupang Play (for South Korean audiences) from February 7, 2025, until March 21. The series has a total of eight episodes. International audiences in around 240 regions can watch it on Amazon Prime Video with subtitled versions available in selected locations.
Newtopia's cast and crew
Other than Jisoo and Park, this series also stars Im Sung-Jae, Hong Seo-hee, Tang Jun-sang, Lee Hak-joo and Kim Junhan among others. Based on the novel Influenza by Han Sang-woon, this romantic fantasy is produced by Bound Entertainment and Billions Plus. Yoon Sung-hyun, who is best known for Bleak Night (2010) and Time to Hunt (2020) has directed this.
The script was co-written by Han Jin-won known for penning Parasite (2019), and Ji Ho-jin known for writing A Shop for Killers (2024).
Newtopia's plot
The story is about Jaeyoon, a soldier, and his girlfriend, Youngjoo, who break up after being together for years. But when a zombie outbreak hits the city, they realize how much they love each other and decide to get back together just as the world falls apart. Trapped in a tall building in Seoul, they must fight off zombies. As the chaos unfolds, Jaeyoon grows from a shy, unsure man into a strong leader, while Youngjoo discovers new strength as she fights to survive.
Park Jeong-min is a well-known South Korean actor known for starring in hit K-dramas like The Light Shop, The 8 Shop, Sh**ting Stars, and Hellbound among others. On the other hand, Jisoo is primarily a K-pop star who made her acting debut with the show Snowdrop and will be next seen in K-drama Boyfriend on Demand and the movie Omniscient Reader: The Prophet.
