Why did One Piece's anime go on a 6-month hiatus?
The series balances action, humour, emotion, and rich lore in a large, fantastical world full of formidable Devil Fruits, perilous oceans, and oddball individuals. With more than 1,000 episodes to date, One Piece is more than simply an anime, for most people, it's an emotion.
The break was taken to allow the animators to get better, and Ryuta Koike, the chief producer of One Piece anime, stated that they would use the opportunity "to make the anime even more powerful." Despite the break, Toei Animation broadcasted a One Piece Fan Letter Special on October 26 to celebrate the anime's 25th anniversary.
