It took actress Sushmita Sen six months to give a nod to the script of her new web series Taali, but she knew the entire script by heart! Sen will portray transgender activist Gauri Sawant in the online series 'Taali'.
The public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Gauri Sawant resulted in a historic ruling from the Supreme Court in 2014 that recognised the transgender population as the third gender.

The show's creators, Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D. Nishandar, said that the actress did a good job on her homework.
The team recalled Sushmita's zeal with which she devoted herself to Gauri's being. They said, ¡°She took around six months to say okay to the script and she knew it by heart. So in tune with the script she was by then that during the shoot, if we added or changed a line, she would tell us instantly that it wasn¡¯t there originally. She does her homework very well.¡±
They further mentioned, ¡°Acting coach Atul Mongia helped her to finetune the transformation and director Ravi Jadav guided her to get the nuances of the Marathi diction right. She also worked very hard on her voice modulation. She put her heart and soul into ¡®Taali¡¯ and today we cannot imagine anyone else playing Gauri other than her.¡±

The actress had completed dubbing and filming the promo for her upcoming web series Taali.
As part of an update on the project, Sushmita Sen published a selection of photos and videos taken on the sets.

In addition, Sushmita Sen uploaded a picture of her first appearance as Gauri Sawant in October of last year.

Nothing makes me prouder and more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person and of bringing her story to the world. Here's to life and to everyone's right to live it with dignity! I love you guys!¡±
'Taali', helmed by the national award-winning filmmaker Ravi Jadhav, will examine Gauri's significant life, starting with her early years, her transformation, and her role in redefining the transgender movement in India.
