Set against the heart-wrenching backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, this powerful series will immerse you in a story of betrayal, friendship, and the fight for justice. Created and directed by Ram Madhvani, The Waking of a Nation will stream on Sony LIV starting March 7th.
What is The Waking of a Nation all about?
The show revolves around Kantilal Sahni, a determined lawyer played by Taaruk Raina, who is caught amid colonial deception. As the British-led Hunter Commission distorts history to protect the empire, Kantilal must confront racism, erasure, and the harsh struggle for truth. Alongside his childhood friends ¨C Ali Allahbaksh (Sahil Mehta), Hari Singh Aulakh (Bhawsheel Singh), and Poonam (Nikita Dutta), they uncover a conspiracy that changes their lives forever.
Despite differing beliefs, their bond pushes them to expose the truths hidden by the empire. But in a world where justice feels out of reach, will they be able to fight for the truth, or will they be consumed by it?
