Director SS Rajamouli's RRR records the best-ever opening for any Indian film in Japan.
Ace south director SS Rajamouli's film RRR finally hit theatre screens in Japan on Friday. Undoubtedly, the film received a great response from the audience just like in its home country. RRR made a record-breaking premiere in Japan as it marked the best-ever opening for any Indian film in the country beating Prabhas starrer Saaho.
Hindustan Times reported that as per Sacnilk.com, RRR has earned about Rs 1.06 crore which is more than what Prabhas' Saaho had earned previously, which is Rs 90 lakh on its first-day collection.
The report also suggests that RRR could make over Rs 3.5 crore over the weekend.
#RRR grossed an est. ?18M ($120K) in Japan on its opening day. 3-day weekend expected to be ?55-60M ($360-400K). Biggest opener for an Indian film though performance is meh for a 200 locs release.

Moreover, it has been learned that the entire RRR team, including director Rajamouli and actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR are currently in Japan for the promotion of their latest film.
As per reports, their wives and family have also joined them on the trip to Japan.
Fans were overwhelmed after meeting the stars. Pictures and videos of the stars meeting their fans have gone viral on the internet and one of the videos showed actor Jr NTR meeting his fans in a hotel lobby while they can be seen crying and screaming. Another video showed staff members of a hotel surprising the actor with heartfelt letters.

Jr NTR even clicked selfies and gave autographs to his fans. Some of his fans even showed up in t-shirts with the actor's image and name written on them.

SS Rajamouli's directorial has caught the attention of not just native audiences, but also applause from Hollywood biggies. RRR's fictional story revolves around the lives of two freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem and the characters were beautifully portrayed by Ram Charan and Jr NTR respectively.
The film collected a record-breaking number at the worldwide box office collections, which is over Rs 1,200 crore.
Other than Ra Charan and Jr. NTR, Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt also stars in key roles in the blockbuster film. Many thought RRR would be selected as India's official entry for Oscars 2023.
However, it wasn't. Last week, the makers of the film started their own 'for your consideration' campaign, seeking nominations at the Academy Awards in as many as 14 categories, which includes - Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Picture (DVV Danayya), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt) and Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn) among other categories, as per the media outlet.
