Actor Fawad Khan's blockbuster Pakistani hit The Legend Of Maula Jatt faces backlash from netizens amid reports of its Indian release.
Pakistan¡¯s highest-grossing film The Legend of Maula Jatt is eyeing an Indian release for the longest time now. Several media reports suggest that the film is close to dropping in theatres of Delhi NCR and Punjab anytime soon. For obvious reasons, it won¡¯t be marketed on a large scale. Amidst such news, several users took to Twitter and showed their discontent.

CBFC who earlier issued a clearance has now recalled the film: Reports
A source told Bollywood Hungama, ¡°Zee Studios had already acquired a clearance for The Legend Of Maula Jatt from the Central Board of Film Certification. But on Monday the CBFC recalled the film. It is not clear whether the censor certificate given to the film has been revoked. However, the release on December 30 has been put off indefinitely.¡±

The Legend of Maula Jatt is one of the highest-budget movies in Pakistani film history and has earned close to 10 million on global records. It is an unofficial remake of the Pakistani classic film Maula Jatt (1979) which was itself an unsaid sequel to 1975¡¯s Wehshi Jatt.
The film¡¯s story is focused legendary rivalry between Noori Natt played by Hamza Ali Abbasi, the brutal gang leader, and local hero Maula Jatt played by Fawad Khan. Directed by Bilal Lashari, The Legend of Maula Jatt also stars Mahira Khan and Humaima Malik. It was initially released in Pakistan on 13th October this year.
Fawad Khan who was last seen in a full-length Indian film Kapoor and Sons talked about his hiatus.
He told Forbes, ¡°I think part of the blame goes to Maula Jatt. Of course, I am joking. I was working, but I have a history of doing one thing at a time. My prep for The Legend of Maula Jatt started and after we started work on it, we ran into several obstacles.¡± Talking about his look in the film, Fawad said, ¡°I have always been adventurous.¡±

¡°We did not intend to make Maula look like Hrithik Roshan - that is very difficult - so (we did not go there). I wanted him (the character) to be brute and cruel. I am a bit brave in that sense as I like choosing unconventional looks. It may have been a bit of a gamble as I have been well-groomed for most of my characters. (I am sure) I will live and cherish this one forever.¡±
