For years now, there have been times when some actors' miss-out has become other¡¯s fortune. Be it Saif Ali Khan rejecting DDLJ for SRK to turn the film into a cult classic or Kajol and Ajay Devgn rejecting Veer Zara for SRK and Preity Zinta to make the film an evergreen tale of love.
Here¡¯s a throwback to when films that Shah Rukh Khan rejected turned out to be the milestone of Aamir Khan¡¯s career.
Aamir has been entertaining showbiz for years now. Bollywood¡¯s Mr Perfectionist has given some of the big hits like Dangal, 3 Idiots, Rang De Basanti and Lagaan. But did you know that three of his superhits were initially rejected by SRK and we wonder if the Pathaan star regret dropping them?
The first film is 2001¡¯s Lagaan which put Aamir Khan on the map of a few of the greatest actors in this country.
Lagaan was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan but he rejected it due to some reasons. Aamir then stepped into the film and made a mark on the big screen. Another one was Rajkumar Hirani¡¯s directorial 3 Idiots. The film was 2009¡¯s highest-grosser and was first offered to King Khan.
Another blockbuster of Aamir¡¯s career Rang De Basanti was not in his name initially. The first choice to play Daljeet or DJ in the movie was Shah Rukh Khan but he rejected this film also. Well, these were Aamir¡¯s fortune but do you know more of SRK¡¯s rejection did wonders for other stars as well?

The Don actor rejected the iconic Munna Bhai M.B.B.S which ultimately became a milestone of Sanjay Dutt¡¯s career. He also rejected the blockbuster Robot that eventually landed in Rajnikanth¡¯s kitty. Khan also rejected the role of playing the quizmaster in Slumdog Millionaire and even spoke about the reason once.
He shared as per TOI, "I didn¡¯t do it because the host is a little bit of a cheat, and he was a little mean, and I¡¯d already done the show so I felt if I do it people will feel I do the same thing. It was a great film.¡±
On the work front, Aamir has gone on a break from the movies after the failure of his last release Laal Singh Chadha. SRK on the other hand, SRK will be next seen in Atlee¡¯s Jawan co-starring Nayanthara in her Hindi debut. The film will hit theatres on September 7. Later he has Rajkumar Hirani¡¯s Dunki in the pipeline.
