Shriya Pilogaonkar got recognised with
Mirzapur for playing the role of Sweety. She says she worked very hard to get what she had and wouldn¡¯t want anyone
to take that away from her.
Shriya is the daughter of Sachin and Supriya Pilogaonkar but never took advantage of her parents' goodwill or reputation. It was only through proper audition that she landed the role.
Indiatimes
got candid with Shriya and spoke to her about her
journey, and the ongoing star kid v/s outsider debate.
It¡¯s not justified to say that I got the recognition early on
We asked if she has got instant recognition with Mirzapur, she begged to differ and said, ¡°I started acting three years before Mirzapur, so I think it¡¯s unfair to say that I got the recognition early because I have worked equally hard. I have already done three films earlier and I would not want anyone to take my due away from me. Of course, Mirzapur happened and it worked well and its very special, but it is something that didn¡¯t come easy¡±.
I believe talent speaks more than words
When asked about the ongoing debate on insiders v/s outsiders, she said, ¡°Every actor has their own struggle. I don¡¯t want to sit and do comparisons. Yes, my parents are always there for me for emotional support and they are sure that I am a strong girl who can make her own decisions.
I believe that talent speaks, and if people like my work, they will accept me. Basically, we all need the support of the audience, and people have seen my journey. I have auditioned for every role that I have got. So I don¡¯t get affected by this debate around me.¡±
It is not that one day I decided to be an actor. I have been longing for it since years.
Shriya says that acting came organically to her and she never asked her parents' permission to be an actor, ¡°I didn¡¯t really tell them, they just saw that. It is not that it was one day I decided to be an actor. I have been longing for it since years. It was an organic process for me. All they told me is that I have to be prepared for the uncertainty of the industry, but I had faith in my hard work and my skill. Industry is an inclusive place and everybody has their own way, there is so much content right now for everyone.¡±
Acting is a combination of talent, luck, and opportunity.
We asked Shriya if the struggle bogged her down to give up actin, she said, ¡°Acting is a combination of talent luck, and opportunity. I always gave my 100 percent in the audition, but sometimes it worked out, and sometimes it didn¡¯t, there were times where I didn¡¯t understand what more I have to do. But talent gets its recognition.¡±
It¡¯s the best time to be an actor
Having said that she even said it¡¯s the best time to be an actor, ¡°Especially today there is no typical hero and heroine thing, everyone is given importance, today if you get one second you have an opportunity to prove yourself, so it¡¯s the best time to be an actor. All you have to do is be patient because this industry is unpredictable. So, all I have to do is to is keep faith and keep going. Because I don¡¯t see my career as a 5-year career but a 60-year career.¡±
Shriya will be seen next in The Gone Game along with Arjun Mathur and Shweta Tripathi.
