People Went To Cinema Halls After Nearly 7 Months, Here's How Theatres Look Post The Lockdown
How has things changed post the lockdown? Are people still scared to go to a movie theatre to watch a film? As of now, it seems the footfall has decreased.
In the beginning of 2020, the entire nation, or rather the world, came to a standstill because of coronavirus pandemic. As the unlock is gradually picking momentum, theatres have reopened in the country from Oct 15.
How has things changed post the lockdown? Are people still scared to go to a movie theatre to watch a film? As of now, it seems the footfall has decreased.

As a remarkable gesture, special screenings were held for COVID-warriors in Delhi, that include PVR Naraina and PVR Cinema at 3C's Mall in Lajpat Nagar among others. They were invited to watch the first show after cinema halls reopened with 50 percent occupancy.

Moviegoers have to wear the masks the entire time. Since the occupancy cannot be more than 50 percent, alternate seats will be left vacant.

With that, floor markers have been placed at food and ticket counters to ensure social distancing. The sanitization process is also being taken care of.

"We are using the latest anti-microbial treatment to sanitise the halls. It was also used in sanitising all the touch points like door handles. Sanitiser dispensers have been placed at all major points inside and at the entry points of the cinema halls. We are also encouraging contact-less digital payments", Sandeep Singh, Cinema Manager of PVR Cinemas at 3C'S told PTI.

Digital payments are encouraged and availability of masks, shields and PPE kits has also been enabled. With that, thermal screening is mandatory and only asymptomatic people are allowed.

Many of the cinema halls across the nation remained close on the first couple of days. Those which have re-opened could attract few audience.
Among the films that have re-released include Chhichhore, Kedarnath, Tanhaji, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Malang, War and Thappad.

Owner of Milan Cinema Ravinder Gupta said that it was very difficult to reopen the hall. "My single screen hall has accumulated lakhs of rupees in dues due to pending fixed charges of electricity in past eight months. Also, due to COVID-19 no new releases are there to attract the audience," he said.

It remains to be seen whether the footfall will increase to cinema halls over the weekend.
