People Doubted If I 'Looked' Like A Hero, Says Ranveer Singh On His Initial Days In Bollywood

One man, many hats truly defines Ranveer Singh's versatile filmography. While he can play a rich brat in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do, he can also portray the complexities of a struggling rapper from the slums of Mumbai in 'Gully Boy.'
Singh is also Bhansali's first choice for period dramas as they collaborated for back-to-back films, including Padmavat and Bajirao Mastani, which became blockbusters.
The actor is now gearing up for the release of his social comedy-drama Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The movie is finally seeing the light of the day after getting postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film is finally slated to release on 13th May 2022.
Before the release of his film, Ranveer Singh recently spoke about his initial days in the film industry.
The actor, who has completed over a decade in Bollywood, recalled how people underestimated him and said he 'didn't look like a hero.'
During the trailer launch event, Ranveer said,
"Before the release of my first film, my posters were put up everywhere. I had gone to watch a film, where I saw two people standing in front of my poster. I stopped because I wanted to overhear what they had to say. They said, 'Who is this' He doesn't look like a hero!' This has happened. In fact, Aditya Chopra had told me in our second meeting, 'You're not Hrithik Roshan, toh tu acting kar lena (so you, please act)'"

Ranveer revealed he is always hungry for characters, stories, and work. Directed by debutant filmmaker Divyang, the upcoming social comedy is backed by Yash Raj Films and Maneesh Sharma.
The movie revolves around SinghĄ¯s Jayeshbhai, the son of a village head. He is under pressure from the family to produce a male heir.
