8 Reasons That Hint At Bigg Boss 9 Being A Complete Flop

Bigg Boss is the biggest reality show on Indian television. Agree? So whether it's nasty fights, manipulative games, back-biting, voyeurism or changing loyalties, the show manages to keep its audience on their toes. However, going by the trends, the show, currently in its ninth season and third week, seems to be losing out on viewers' interest. This, despite the makers and the contestants doing everything that it takes to keep the TRPs running.

The proceedings inside the house have remained rather dull so far, taking its toll on the minds of its producers who are in a fix and thus looking for ways to pump up the show. They even went to the extent of getting the inmates to do weird things during a task on Thursday's episode. So Digangana had to take up the ice-bucket challenge (just that it was five buckets!). While Suyyash got waxed, Keith got his ass kicked quite literally. Surprisingly, Rimi Sen bonded with the girls and talked about her love life. The star couples also got cozy after the lights turned off. But none of it, it seems, is helping the show. While Bigg Boss even scolded the contestants for their lack of creativity and initiative, we list 8 reasons that might have robbed the show of its spice this season.

1. The concept of 'Double-Trouble' failed miserably.

Said to be inspired from the ninth edition of Big Brother in the US, the contestants were randomly paired up the moment they entered the house, with expectations of new fights around adjustments. But the pairs had to be set free only in its second week. It seems they became too compatible despite being tied up with each other.

2. The final list of contestants wasn't quite exciting.

Unlike previous seasons, that had participants who were apparently out-of-work but familiar, the current show lacks a name that can be called popular, known, or even infamous. The current lot has no exciting background and has zero curiosity value. Sorry!

3. The couples couldn't bring any spice to the show.

Two real-life couples and an ex-couple were roped in with the belief that they would bring some spice. But all they could contribute was sheer dullness. While Suyyash-Kishwer and Keith-Rochelle seemed too comfortable in their own zones to show some romance on camera (that's what this show yearns for!), former couple Ankit Gera and Roopal Tyagi could'nt show any old sparks or new face-offs. A loss for the audience it seems!

4. The oomph factor remains missing.

If you can't speak Hindi, you ought to at least show some hotness! But models Rochelle and Mandana prefer to mind their own business. Apart from Rochelle directing some jealousy towards Mandana, they have remained boring. Even Bollywood's sole representative Rimi Sen is non-existent. She expected the show to be a roller-coaster ride, only until she realised the house was a jail and she wished to quit. All Rimi has given us till date are some real funny quotes and memes. Girls, you all need to buck up.

5. The show still needs to get its villain or vamp.

Rewind to Dolly Bindra, Pooja Misrra, Sambhavna Seth, Armaan Kohli, Kushal Tandon, Gautam Gulati and Gauhar Khan. One thing they had in common was that all were too loud, desperate and permanently angry, in their respective seasons. Agree? So while they managed to lend Bigg Boss the bite that brought decent ratings, the current group of people lacks the pitch to make the show a hit one. We expect more from Kishwer and Prince who have displayed some sparks till now.

6. Contestants continue to play safe and avoid any risks to their image outside the house.

None of the housemates have shed their mask and shown their real side. They don't mind going out of their way to make others comfortable. The couples are maintaining the propriety that is quite unexpected in Bigg Boss. We want them to break free and show us some real action, don't we?

7. Salman Khan seems to be out of form this time.

Salman keeps hiking his fees for the show, and its makers keep giving in to the superstar. So we hear he is charging around 12 crore per week this time. Whoa! The production also pooled in some extra bucks for his personalised chalet to keep him happy. But all said and done, we hear the actor, who is too busy with his upcoming Sultan, isn't in the best of spirits to concentrate on the show. And the laid-back contestants just add to his mood. But honestly, only he can rouse the rather lethargic contestants.

8. The show's late night slot has already lost on viewers.

We thought its 10.30 pm slot had a lot to do with the regular advisories the makers got in the past for airing "adult content" during prime-time. So the audience was in for more than those poolside rendezvous, massage sessions, clandestine kisses et al, given the late timing. But sadly, the show has remained quite clean so far. We are sure its producers are regretting the decision to push Bigg Boss beyond its favourite 9 pm slot, which got them more viewership over the years.

If the show continues with the same pattern of boredom, this season might just become a debacle, much to the disappointment of all the show's ardent followers. Only if the inmates bring out the hidden skeletons in their closets, and show some enthusiasm in the tasks, can things get happier. Till then, we are watching! *Yawns*
