Real VS Reel: Aadujeevitham aka The Goat Life is winning applause from everyone including celebrities, critics as well as fans. The film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran is based on the true story of Najeeb Muhammad, a migrant worker who had moved to the Middle East under the guise of a job but was deceived into becoming a bonded labour. The Malayalam survival drama is based on the namesake book by Benyamin.

Najeeb Muhammad was a labourer in Aarattupuzha village in Haripad, Alappuzha when he was struggling to find a job in 1993. His financial woes grew multifold when his wife was pregnant. In the wake of a better future, he moved to Middle East in search of work. An acquaintance from his village introduced him to an agent in Mumbai. He was promised a job as a salesperson at a Saudi Arabian supermarket. Turned out, it was a blatant lie. From the airport, it was a two-day travel. However, it seemed never-ending. This is when he realised he was trapped.

For two years, he was trapped in a desert with no human contact apart from his Arab boss and his brother. His job was to herd 700 goats for his boss who used to watch him via binoculars. He was not paid a single penny. He had no clothes, no water to bath. He was only given kuboos to eat. Since they were dry, he would use goat's milk to wet them and eat.

After two years, when his employer and his brother left for a wedding, he managed to escape. On the way, he met a fellow Malayali who took him to the authorities and helped him in deportation.

When he returned home, he finally met his son Safeer who was two years old then. Najeeb Muhammad also has a daughter named Safeena. Ahead of the release of Blessy's Aadujeevitham, Najeeb Muhammad had to endure the tragic death of his granddaughter, Safa Mariyam, the chid of his son Safeer and his wife Mubeena.
