Taapsee Pannu Was Offered ¡®Haseen Dilruba¡¯ After Actresses Turned It Down Because Of Vikrant Massey
Taapsee revealed that she was offered the film only when all other actresses had turned it down.
Taapsee Pannu had an eventful 2021. This year, Haseen Dilruba became the most-talked-about film out of three of her releases. Fans and critics dissected the movie.
While some disliked the movie for its toxic tone, a few lauded the cast and crew for a never-seen-before take on passion in love and relationships.
In a recent interview with Rajeev Masand, Taapsee shared an exciting detail about the movie. She said that writer Kanika Dhillon, who collaborated on Manmarziyaan, wasn't keen for her to do the film.
Taapsee revealed that she was offered the film only when all other actresses had turned it down. Talking about the same, Taapsee said,
¡°During the whole narration, I was smirkly looking at her, ¡®You didn¡¯t come to me with this before.' I was almost manifesting it somewhere that I wanted to do this. I was not probably the first, second, or third choice. It was only when everybody else had said no that it came to me. I was pleased about it, first because I wanted to do it; when I heard it, I didn't understand why anyone would say no to it."
Raveena Tandon and Konkona Sen Sharma, who heard Taapsee, were taken aback during the roundtable. Reacting to their response, Taapsee said,
¡°Why would anyone say no to that?¡± Taapsee replied, ¡°I can tell you the reasons why probably others said no to it - too grey, not likable woman character or who's the hero?¡±
She indirectly hinted that many actresses rejected the film because of Vikrant Massey.
She continued saying,
¡°I was like, ¡®Dude, it's Haseen Dillruba, I don¡¯t care about who the hero is. Those were the kind of questions because of which others didn't work out, and thank god for that."
Konkona, who was shocked, added, "And he (Vikrant Massey) is such a good actor!¡± Konkona had directed Massey in 'Death in the Gunj.' Supporting Massey, Taapsee added, ¡°Ya, Vikrant, I said, ¡®look at the hero.¡¯¡±
Haseen Dillruba was released on Netflix. The movie directed by Vinil Mathew also starred Harshvardhan Rane.
