Ajay Devgn Defends Pan Masala Ads, Says 'If Certain Things Are Wrong, They Shouldn't Be Sold'
Ajay Devgn defends pan masala advertisements. He says that he is only promoting elaichi with Vimal. He also said that if certain things are wrong, they shouldn't be sold.
Bolo Zubaan Kesari!
The Vimal advertisement is so popular among the youth that most of us haven't even realised that the Ajay Devgn-starrer commercial promotes Elaichi and not tobacco. That's the power of surrogate advertisement. Since tobacco products, alcohol and gambling are prohibited from being advertised, many brands opt for this form of advertisement to engage people subconsciously. But is it the right thing to do?
Many times celebrities have been bashed online for promoting tobacco. A recent example was Akshay Kumar who joined the Vimal universe along with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn. While earlier, Khiladi Kumar said that endorsing gutkha and similar products is "Galat kaam", he recently joined hands with the pan masala brand.
Shame on #AkshayKumar, first says tobacco is injurious to health and public should not eat this type of things. now he is endorsing #vimal, what a hypocrisy!@akshaykumar is synonym name of hypocrisy.pic.twitter.com/hQrmmicKNI

Similarly, Ajay Devgn has often faced the heat from the audience. A fan of the Bollywood star had earlier urged him to not promote tobacco after he was diagnosed with cancer. He circulated nearly 1000 pamphlets to tell him that.
"My father Nanakram Meena started chewing tobacco a few years ago and was using the same brand for which Devgn does the advertisement. My father was impressed by Devgn but when he was diagnosed with cancer, he felt that such a big star should not advertise for these kind of products," Dinesh Meena, the patient's son had earlier told PTI.
In a recent interview, when Ajay Devgn was asked about criticism on the products he endorses, he said that he was promoting Elaichi. Furthermore, in his defence, he told Indian Express, "I would say it without naming it because I don¡¯t want to promote it; I was doing elaichi. What I feel is more than advertisements, if certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold".
Meanwhile, Pusha: The Rise fame Allu Arjun has reportedly rejected a big offer to promote a tobacco product. It is said that the 40-year-old star didn't want his fans to consume a harmful product, and hence, without second thoughts, he rejected the exorbitant amount he was offered without second thoughts.
