Akshay Kumar Turns Good Samaritan, Pledges To Provide Monthly Ration Expense To 3600 Dancers
Ganesh Acharya has revealed that Akshay Kumar will be providing monthly ration expense to 3600 dancers amid Covid-19 pandemic.
From Sonu Sood to Gurmeet Choudhary, from Bhumi Pednekar to Huma Qureshi, from Mika Singh to Jacqueline Fernandez, all celebrities have pitched in to help the needy as India battles the devastating second wave of Covid-19.
Joining the bandwagon, Akshay Kumar has stepped forward to help the dancers and provide them with monthly rations.
Since the shooting of films has been halted, the junior artistes and dancers are the ones facing a tough time. When Akshay wished choreographer Ganesh Acharya on his birthday, he asked him what present he wants. Acharya told him about the plight of dancers and sought help. Akshay, without any second thoughts, stepped forward to do the needful.
"I asked him if he could help 1600 junior choreographers and aged dancers and about 2000 background dancers with a month¡¯s ration. He readily agreed," he told Bombay Times.
"The dancers and choreographers whose details are registered with us get either the money to afford the basics or a kit that contains the basic essentials to feed a small family unit for a month - the decision is theirs. We have had a system in place for a year now and our logistics are very neatly planned to ensure no one puts themselves in any trouble," he added.
Film bodies including the TV industry had written to a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, to allow the shoots under the bio bubble stating that about 70 percent of the actors are jobless.
