Ranbir Kapoor Says He Referred To His 'Aggressive' Dad Rishi Kapoor While Preparing For Animal
During the trailer launch of Animal, Ranbir Kapoor shared that he referred to his father Rishi Kapoor who was aggressive.
The relationship between Rishi Kapoor and son Ranbir Kapoor has often been talked about and nobody actually knows if it was cordial or if Ranbir had ¡®daddy issues¡¯. Recently, Ranbir attended the trailer launch of his upcoming movie Animal where he remembered his late father.
Ranbir says his Animal character is inspired by Rishi Kapoor.
The Shamshera actor shared, ¡°Whenever I used to meet Sandeep, I used to ask him to give me a reference for my character. I have never felt things like this and subconsciously I remembered my father. I think the way he used to talk, he was a very passionate, aggressive man. So I have tried to take that from my father.¡±
Bobby Deol who plays the prime antagonist in Animal also talked about his father and veteran actor Dharmendra.
Mentioning his recent stint in Rocky Aur Rani, Bobby said, ¡°Papa ne jo kaam kiya hai Rocky rani ne voh role koi aur nahi kar sakta tha. Gadar ne toh gadar macha diya. (Nobody can do the work, dad has done in Rocky Aur Rani. Gadar has been extremely successful).
This is not the first time that Ranbir talked about his equation with his father.
Mentioning the time when Rishi blamed director Anurag Basu for the failure of Jagga Jasoos, Ranbir recently told Mid-day, ¡°I have never looked my father in the eye. I always look down and speak to him. And only say, 'Yes!' So, it was very hard for me to confront him on these things. But I always pass on a harsh message through my mom. What do I do, I can't control him."
In another 2015 interview, Ranbir revealed, ¡°I cannot sit with him and talk about my problems and my life. I can talk to my mom.¡±
Coming back to Animal, the movie is a Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial and will arrive in theatres on 1st December. It also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri and Shakti Kapoor. This adult crime thriller will clash with Meghna Gulzar¡¯s biographical drama Sam Bahadur at the box office.
As Animal follows the lines of Sandeep Vanga¡¯s usual protagonists like Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, Animal actress Rashmika defends the criticism.
During the trailer launch, the actress was heard saying, "When I watched Kabir Singh or Arjun Reddy, I didn't think they were violent films. They were high in intensity. The same is with Animal where you see a little bit of violence. The film is also high in emotions. Sandeep, as a director, is an unapologetic real. People sugarcoat things for the screen, he doesn't do that.¡±
