'Jootey Padenge Usko': Annu Kapoor Lashes Out At Nitesh Tiwari For Creating Ramayana Adaptation

Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari is all set to arrive with an adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana. The mythological flick will reportedly feature Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. It's not been long since another Ramayana adaptation, Adipurush tanked at the box office and left the country fuming for its vague representation.

The audiences are now concerned and sceptical of what Nitesh has to offer.

However, Nitesh in a recent interview has revealed that he is confident about his version of Ramayana. He told Zoom, ¡°My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I'm not going to offend myself then I'm very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else.¡±

In a new turn of events, Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has lashed out at Nitesh Tiwari for making this film at a time of communal disturbance in this country.

He told Aaj Tak, "Kaun hain Nitesh Tiwari? Kya hain uski aaukat? Hindu dharam ka apmaan karna? (Film) bana rahe hai? Jootey padenge usko. Kisi bhi dharm ka apmaan iss volatile situation ke andar. Yeh woh samay nahi hain ke aap samiksha kare. Aapka samaaj abhi uss sthar par nahi pahucha hai. Rational perspective aapke andar nahi aaya hain ki aap dharam ki samiksha kare. Pehle dharm ko samjho toh sahi, fir samiksha karna.¡±

(Who is Nitesh Tiwari? What is his claim to fame? Insulting Hindu religion? He will be beaten by shoes. No one should insult any religion in this volatile situation. After facing massive backlash recently, Adipurush dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir apologised with folded hands.

He tweeted, ¡°I accept people's emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation¡±. Adipurush featured Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles.

Nitesh's upcoming directorial is a romantic drama titled Bawal. Starring Varun Dhawan and Jahnvi Kapoor, the film will stream on Prime Video from July 21. Annu Kapoor on the other hand will soon be seen in Ayushmann Khurrana's Dream Girl 2 which also stars Ananya Pandey. He also has Sab Moh Maya Hai and Hum Do Hamare Baarah in his kitty.
