Arjun Reddy Director's Statement Justifying Domestic Violence Goes Viral After Darlings' Release
Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga controversial statement on violence against women go viral again after the release of Alia Bhatt-starrer Darlings.
Whether you liked the film or not, Alia Bhatt-starrer Darlings has kickstarted a debate on social media. While some people are appreciating the movie for highlighting the issue of domestic violence, there are others who think the film made a mockery of such a grave issue.
Gosh #Darlings is such an accurate description of DV: the alcoholism, the self blame of the victim, the forgiveness the next morning, the hate in the mirror, & the excuses made by the victim. Thank god it¡¯s a comedy or else no one would watch it! Kudos #aliabhatt #shahrukhkhan

I get that Vanga's statements are problematic and misogynistic but as a filmmaker/artist if you can't justify or empathize with the characters you write or play, there is no way the audience are gonna love them. https://t.co/9VvaJjTHUt

He had said, "When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman (and vice versa), if you don¡¯t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don¡¯t see anything there."
Talking about those who lashed out at Kabir Singh, he said, "Probably they never experienced (love) in the right way. They were only on the feminist side, they didn¡¯t speak about anything else."
The director was surprised that the conversation was mostly centered around the themes and not the technical aspects of his film. He said this was perhaps because "They (the critics) hate me."
Some men, after watching Darlings, feel that the film justified violence against men and even mocked it.
Meanwhile, most people are praising Alia Bhatt, Vijay Verma and Shefali Shah for their impeccable performances in the movie.

If you believe, domestic violence isn't a real issue, a few days, an Indian woman in New York died by suicide after facing extreme domestic violence from her husband for eight years.
