The world of business is a highly unpredictable one. There are huge risks as a lot of aspects are at stake. However, with careful planning, one could become a bigshot overnight. Ashneer Grover, the ex-co-founder and Managing Director of BharatPe, shot to fame after featuring in Shark Tank India.
On April 29 2022, Ashneer was invited as a guest speaker at a university where he gave insights on how to run a business and what all necessary things to be kept in mind while s starting a venture.
During his speech, he said that whenever someone has to do business involving monetary transactions, it is done on the basis of trust and that his company was small which is why he needed to generate trust overnight.
So, he decided to hire Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. However, he revealed that he didn't have enough funds to go through with the investment. He said that no one could have ever thought of doing what he did at the time keeping in mind his financial situation.
"Mere paas bank mai pure 100 crore pade the jisse mujhe pura business banana tha." (I only had Rs. 100 crores in my bank account with which I had to run my business).
Despite not having enough funds, Ashneer got in touch with Salman Khan's manager to hire him as a brand ambassador for promoting his product to the masses. Ashneer revealed that Salman Khan had asked for Rs. 7.5 crores.
Moreover, he had to manage rest of the expenses with only the funds he had in his bank account, which was Rs. 100 crores. So he took the risk of asking Salman Khan to reconsider his fees.
And, to his surprise, the Dabangg actor agreed at Rs. 4.5 crores. However, he revealed that he was slammed by Salman Khan's manager for bargaining.
Ashneer mentioned that the manager came to him and asked, "Sir aap bhindi kharidne aaye ho kya, kitni mandwali karoge?" (Sir, have you come to buy vegetables, how much will you negotiate?) To that, Ashneer replied, "Mere paas hai hi nahi paise, de hi nahi sakta" (I don't have enough money, I cannot give.)
